CUT_ – The next big electronic duo

Free gigs can be very hit or miss, but CUT_’s set in Dalston last night was a triumph.

Belle Doron and Sebastiaan Dutih otherwise known as CUT_ are an up and coming electronic duo from Amsterdam.

Influenced and inspired by artists such as Flume, Aluna George and Jamie XX, the pair aim to combine alternative electronics with edgy pop music. They quickly gained a great deal of recognition for their cover of French artist Stromae’s song Papaoutai.

They have been touring the Netherlands and are now starting to branch out across Europe and the UK. The duo played an intimate free gig at Birthday’s in Dalston, which was advertised on Dice.

The verses are so quiet and dainty sounding, before building up to loud and vibrant choruses that fill the whole room. Their music has that addictive quality that makes you want to listen for hours on end. Doron’s vocals have a unique sound that shifts so easily from soft and breathy to loud and commanding.

They managed to attract quite a crowd, despite still being fairly unknown. The basement of Birthday’s was the perfect venue and the lightshow created an enchanting atmosphere.

If you’re someone who gets a kick out of being the first to discover the next big thing, then get behind this duo and you won’t be disappointed. Keep your eyes peeled as they are set to be releasing new music early next year.
