Covent Garden’s West Piazza was transformed into a rather unusual race track on Saturday 7th December for Cancer Research UK’s annual Great Christmas Pudding Race.

The participants wore Christmas-themed costumes and competed on the obstacle course while carrying traditional Christmas puddings in their hands.

The winning team came to London all the way from Australia and were awarded for their efforts by an impersonator of Her Majesty the Queen – the resemblance was so canny, some people believed she was the real thing!

In between the qualifying races, spectators enjoyed music from jazz vocal girl group The Roxys.

The event was held to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
