A Prada exhibition is coming to London

London’s Design Museum has confirmed that it will host Prada’s first major museum exhibition next year.

‘Prada. Front and Back’ opens in September 2020 and will offer insight into one of the world’s most influential fashion house’s creative approach, inspirations and landmark collaborations, as well as exploring the future of the brand.

The show will also focus on how Italian designer Miuccia Prada, who joined the family business in the 70s, has turned the brand into what it is today: one of the most successful fashion houses in the world.

To make this highly anticipated exhibition live up to expectations, the Design Museum has been granted access to the brand’s headquarters in Milan. Before stepping down in January, co-director Deyan Sudjic will go behind the scenes to curate the exhibition, which is expected to display some of Prada’s most iconic pieces – including handbags and shoes, among other pieces from the luxury brand’s catwalk collections.

‘For me, it’s a particularly personal challenge to work on the Prada exhibition – there is so much to explore about a company that never wants to do the obvious thing, and that is such a genuine cultural force’, Mr Sudjic told the Evening Standard.

‘Prada. Front and Back’ opens at the Design Museum in September 2020, with tickets going on sale in Spring 2020.
