Experience the surreal – Salvador Dalí is coming to London

An unorthodoxly long curled moustache with an ocelot on a leash. Salvador Dalí has gone down in art history as one of the most famous surrealist painters. After all – who wouldn’t recognise the iconic painting ‘The Persistence of Memory’; one of the most reproduced pieces of art in the world.

The works of this Spanish genius have been the subject of research by many. Londoners will soon be able to experience it in a more contemporary way. Dalí Cybernetics: The Immersive Experience opens in Brick Lane on the 23rd of December for people who are interested in art, but also for those who are not and maybe want to get into it a bit more.

Mixing traditional art and modern technology may seem like an unconventional combination, but in recent years such presentations of art have become increasingly popular and have attracted people who might not have normally been drawn to this cultural world.

Paul Cézanne, Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo but also Gustav Klimt and Monet exhibitions attracted thousands of enthusiasts not only in the UK but also in other European countries. Immersive experiences allow us to perceive things differently than we perceive them on a normal day. Especially thanks to technological advances such as virtual reality or otherwise refined physical environments.

The Boiler House in Brick Lane will soon transform into a digital art show full of holograms, sounds and 360º digital projections. After a great success in Barcelona in the artist’s native Spain, the creators hope that the exhibition will be equally, if not more successful in London.

Although the show doesn’t start until the 23rd of December, standard tickets for just under are £24 already available on the official website. If you’ve got an art fan at home – or are just looking for an interesting idea to fill the time and want to soak up a bit of culture differently, this could be a pretty good Christmas present, don’t you think?
