Ecuadorian president, Lenin Moreno, has said he has received written assurances that the UK wouldn’t extradite Assange to a country where he may face the death penalty.
Moreno told reporters during a radio interview yesterday “The road is clear for Mr. Assange to take the decision to leave”.
He also told reporters that Assange would have to complete a short jail term for breaching bail conditions.

Assange’s lawyer, Barry Pollack, told The Telegraph that the deal was not acceptable and it will be rejected.
He said “No one should have to face criminal charges for publishing truthful information”.
WikiLeaks tweeted saying “the only deal is between Ecuador and the United States—to sell Assange for Loans”.
“The UK is repeating, as it always has, the standard EU policy of asking the US for life in prison instead of death. That’s no deal. Ecuador fabricates the claim to lay the ground for expulsion”.
Assange has been in the Ecuadorian embassy in London since August 2012.
The Ecuadorian embassy refused to comment.
