This Wednesday, Ajax who played a remarkable season last year, will receive Chelsea for the qualifiers of the Champion’s League.
Ajax, the surprise team of the 2018-2019 season, faced out a bitter elimination after Tottenham’s heroic comeback in the return leg of the semi-finals. After the departure of key players such as F. De Jong and M. De Light will this young Dutch team be able to challenge the 4th ranking team of the Premier League?
Erik ten Hag’s men have had a good start in the Dutch League being at the top of the ranking. Also, in the Champion’s League, the team wasn’t compelled to make great efforts as they won their two matches against Lille and Valencia with a margin of 3-0.
Ajax is leading Group H with 6 points while Chelsea is in third place with only 3 points following their 0-1 loss during their trip to Valencia. The Blues were able to come back in Lille with a 2-1 win. For this encounter, Ajax will, therefore, hope to increase their lead in this group while Chelsea has the chance to return to a tie if they succeed.
An intense match is expected at Stamford Bridge for this 3rd qualifying group round of the Champion’s League.
Will Ajax be able to confirm their dominance or will Chelsea stir up some painful reminder of last year’s loss against an English team?
