Sustainability in Borough Market; Milica Cosic reports

Open every day from 10am, Borough Market in Southwark Street is the oldest market in London. However, being and old does not mean it is backward in its ways. Image: Milica Cosic

Borough Market, a hidden food suburbia, nestled in Southwark, just a few meters after the iconic Shard building. It is a magical little place where all sorts of produce and delicacies can be bought. From artisan bakeries and chocolatiers to fishmongers, butchers and fruiters, Borough Market is acknowledged for its ability to source quality and good tasting British and international produce.

Farmers stalls, pick- your- own farms and many markets now sell produce and food that is cheap but, not necessarily sustainable. Therefore, Milica Cosic wants to find out whether Borough Market traders, in all their reputability strive to sell food that is sustainable and low on the food mile scale.
