London’s favourite ice rinks open for the festive season

As temperatures plummeted in London at the end of October, all the major ice rinks announced their opening times for the festive season.

Save the date for this year’s skating season at some of London’s most popular rinks.

1. Glide At Battersea, open from 11 November to 8 January 2023

The Natural History Museum rink closed for good last year, but the same operating company is opening a brand new rink at Battersea Power Station. Only a virtual map is available at the moment, it looks very big, probably windy next to the river and has tonnes of restaurants and shops.

Glide will be at Battersea Power Station between 11 November – 8 January 2023. Tickets are available here.

2. Skate at Somerset House, from 16 November until 15 January 2023

Somerset House rink is one of the most unique rinks in London, perfectly located in the centre of town.

The Strand, WC2R 1LA. Nearest station: Temple. The rink will be open between 16 November – 15 January 2022, adult tickets range from £10-20 and can be purchased here.

3. Queen’s House, open from 18 November until 8 January 2023

It’s a royal skating experience, the rink is huge and the views around it are beautiful. The palace is surrounded by Greenwich Park, university and market. The venue also provides hot drinks and food so you won’t have to worry about being hungry.

4. Canary Wharf, open from 22 October until 25 February 2023

Located in the midst of a high-rise financial city, this romantic oversized ice rink is 1,200 sq ft and boasts a stunning roof with over 1,000 lights throughout, giving the place a festive feel. 

The nearest station is Canary Wharf (E14). Adult tickets start from £19.95. More info and booking here.

5. Alexandra Palace, open all year round

This is a year-round skating venue, but between 28 November and 8 January there are disco skating parties. During this time the rink is bringing the holiday vibes with Christmas songs, hot chocolate and mulled wine, which will keep you coming back for more.
