Heads-up for Lord Mayor’s Show 2019

Lord Mayor’s Show 2019 will be held on 9 November, tomorrow morning, across Central London. More than 500,000 people are expected to take to the streets for this annual show.

The parade will travel the three-mile-long route, which begins from Mansion House at 11 a.m, via Cheapside and St Paul’s and finishes at the Royal Courts of Justice. It is estimated to take an hour and a quarter to pass each point, winding through the city.

The show is to celebrate the appointment of William Russell, the 692nd Lord Mayor of the City of London. He will ride in the Golden State Coach for the 804th annual show.

Around 7,000 participants, 120 horses, 60 decorated floats and military bands involved in the parade.

The organiser says, ‘It combines ‘London’s ancient pomp, rowdy patchwork heritage and modern dynamism’. For 2019, giant teapots, dragons, African drummers, an inflatable pig and a Red Dwarf Starbug will also be featured.
