Meghan and Harry steal the spotlight this week with Netflix releasing the teaser trailer for their documentary.
In the documentary that promises to be more explosive than their bombshell tell-all interview with Oprah last March, Meghan and Harry reveal the truth regarding their step down from full-time royal duties.
The teaser trailer features never seen before images of the Sussexes and one gloomy image of the Prince and Princess of Wales during a public event. In the trailer, Meghan says ‘when the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear the story from us?’
The Sussexes moved to California in 2020 and now have two children, Archie and Lilibet who are sixth and seventh in the line for the British throne, respectively. Even though Harry stepped down as a working royal, he is still fifth in line.
They have signed a deal with Netflix that requires them to produce films and services for the American streaming service.
There is no sure date for the release of the documentary but Reuters and other media outlets report it might be released on the 8th of December.
It is expected that the documentary will give even more insight into those issues that made the couple leave Britain entirely, endangering the British Royals’ reputation.
There are speculations the teaser dropped yesterday because William and Kate are embarking on their first journey in the USA since Queen Elizabeth’s passing.
However, their visit has been overshadowed by another royal scandal.
Lady Susan Hussey, Prince William’s godmother and a lady in waiting for the late Queen has been accused of racist remarks to Ngozi Fulani. Fulani is a founder of the Sistah Space charity which aids women of African and Caribbean backgrounds who have experienced domestic and sexual abuse.
The incident happened at an event hosted by the Queen Consort, Camilla. British-born Ngozi Fulani was repeatedly asked ‘where she was from’.
Buckingham Palace issued an apology to the charity founder and Lady Hussey has already stepped down from her role in the Palace.
But the damage has already been done, as the focus is no longer on William and Kate.
As per usual, fans and haters are divided and social media is full of opinions. Piers Morgan, a fierce critic of Meghan Markle, has expressed his disapproval of the documentary in an article in the Sun.
However, fans of the famous couple express their support on Twitter.
The next two months are going to be turbulent for the Royal Family, with the documentary coming up and Prince Harry’s memoir, called Spare, set to be published in January 2023.
