On 12 December 2022, the Met Office issued a warning, “Cold weather to continue”.

A cold snap has swept through the UK, bringing the first heavy snowfall to London yesterday. Matthew Lehnert, chief meteorologist at the Met Office said that the cold conditions will remain in situ during this week. In many places, daytime temperatures will struggle to get above freezing.

A Level 3 Cold Weather Alert has been issued by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) – covering all of England is currently in place until Friday 16th December.

On the rail front, according to the Guardian, Tube trains in London were delayed and disrupted, particularly the outer network as ice and snow caused equipment failures on several lines.

The Met Office website has lots of advice on how to prepare for the cold weather. Visit the page for more information.
