Currys PC World is being confronted by many angry shoppers after a technical glitch caused Black Friday orders to be cancelled. Customers are now having to pay full price for sale items.
Thousands of products were purchased over the Black Friday sale period, with many shopping online. But for some, those orders never arrived, despite receiving a confirmation email.
Many weren’t notified of these cancellations until after the Black Friday sale was over, leaving them having to order their items again for full price.
Curry’s have apologised for the inconvenience and said that this was due to a technical fault, resulting in some orders not going through properly, even after confirmation emails were sent out.
Alongside the cancelled orders, gift cards were also wiped. They claim to have refunded everyone who suffered unnecessary deductions.
However, the investigation into the incident continues as the number of upset customers grow. It seems they are still unsure of the extent of the issue and the types of items and orders affected.
The electronics and appliance retailer has been urged to respect the Black Friday sale prices of items lost from the glitch. Whilst they are under no legal obligation to offer the items at the discounted prices, the urge comes as a move to save the company’s reputation.
According to the website, customers can apply for a refund of the difference in price on certain items purchased between the 10th and 19th of November 2020. By applying, you can get the Black Friday price of the item guaranteed and the difference refunded within 21 days. For more information, click here.
