Chamberlayne Sunday’s: 5 fabulous things to do on one street

Achieve more than your usual Netflix binge this Sunday…

Sandwiched neatly between Queen’s Park and Kensal Green, Chamberlayne Road is the perfect cluster of delis, boutiques and pubs. Keep reading to discover a quintessential slice of everything North-West London has to offer, and how to cram all its best bits into your Sunday.

Get breakfast at: Minkies

Treat yourself with: A full English. With a twist.

This really is the best, tried-and-tested fry-up you can bag yourself on Chamberlayne Road. Labelled by Vogue in 2012 as ‘the coolest deli in North London’, Minkie’s serves treats and eats all of kinds from an unusual-looking cafe called the Glasshouse. Outside the cafe a good range of outdoor seating is available for friends and families alike. The most charming detail is an old Victorian-style market cart, overflowing with brightly coloured oranges that hint at the freshly squeezed juice waiting inside.

Walk off your breakfast in: Kensal Green Cemetery

Tired of spending your Sundays traipsing through the same worn-out galleries? Located on the cusp of Ladbroke Grove and Kensal Green, this cemetery is so much more than your average graveyard. Not only is it London’s oldest burial ground, it’s design was influenced by the Père Lachaise – the most famous cemetery in Paris. Get rural in the city amongst some of the rare flora and fauna that the grounds have to offer, before venturing back on to Chamberlayne Road.

Harrow Rd, London W10 4RA

Have a browse in: Verandah

Treat yourself with: Whatever tickles your fancy! From one-of-a-kind reclaimed designer clothing to independently crafted jewelry and greeting cards, Verendah is an emporium of knick-knacks perfect for a Sunday mooch. There’s more in the store’s sister branch down the road in Kensal Green.

117 Chamberlayne Rd, London NW10 3NS

Catch a flick at: The Lexi Cinema

Treat yourself with: ‘Call me by your name’ – the latest release from Luca Guadagnino. Enjoy from the bar, ales local to Notting Hill and gin distilled just a stone’s throw away in Highgate.

194B Chamberlayne Rd, NW10 3JU

Wet the whistle at: The Shop NW10

Treat yourself with: A Jasmine. This expert blend of gin, lemon, Cointreau and Campari is the perfect wind down to a Chamberlayne Sunday. The Shop also sells art and other delights – so find yourself going in for a pint and leaving with something even better.
