Alexandra Palace is ready to celebrate Christmas

The reopening of the theatre is good reason to get excited as it last hosted a show 80 years ago. After a nearly 20 million pound restoration, the theatre is ready to kick Christmas things off.

The BBC Christmas Family Orchestra will have the honour of being the first to fill the Victorian building with warmth and joy again on 1 December.

To celebrate the reopening the Palace is organising the Ally Pally Christmas Carnival running through December.

For the opening weekend, the carnival will welcome a Santa’s grotto as well as a Christmas market where local producers’ booths will make you want to spend your entire salary on festive decorations.

And the celebrations don’t end here, a funfair and in-house ice rink will give you one more excuse to make the journey to North London – if ice skating makes you hungry stop by the StrEAT food market.

Last but not least, the place will host the winter pop-up Luna Cinema, so you better get ready for the screenings of Elf and Love Actually on 10 December.
