At this time of year makeup fanatics get super excited because it is officially the time to bring out your inner vampire. A dark lip can be intimidating for many but not to fear, Voice of London’s fashion team tried out many dark lips bringing you their five favourites.
1. Our first favourite: Urban Decay’s Comfort Matte in shade ‘Disturbed’
This lipstick is long lasting and is deeply pigmented. The formula is creamy and hydrating and more durable when paired with the Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide- on lip pencil in Hex. This liner helps you get the clean lines you look for especially when wearing a dark lip. It is waterproof and contains Vitamin E and Jojoba oil.
Purchase the lipstick for £15 and the lip liner for £13.50 at Urban Decay.
2. Second favourite: Rimmel London’s Moisture Renew in ‘380 Dark Night Water-oops!’
This lipstick has a beautiful scent to it. It is seriously creamy and glides easily onto the lips. It is great as it keeps your lips hydrated. However, due to its creamy formula you have to beware of lipstick on the teeth!
Purchase Dark Night Water-oops! at Superdrug for £6.49.
3. Third favourite: Diorific in shade 001 – ‘Diorama’.
This lipstick is the least vampy of the five, but we feel like it still deserves a place in our favourites. Again, this product is very long lasting and has the most beautiful gold packaging. This lipstick glides on very easily too and doesn’t dry out the lips like some other lipsticks can.
This lipstick may be the most expensive of them all at £28.50 from the Dior website, but so worth it!
4. Fourth favourite: PS Velvet Matte Lipstick Crayon in ‘Brown’.
We found this hidden gem in Primark. This product was surprisingly good, the formula is very creamy and doesn’t feel dry on the lips. The shape of the crayon allows you to get the straight outline we all want when it comes to our lipsticks. The only downside to this is that you will need to reapply throughout the day or evening because it wears off easily, but given the price it’s easy enough to look past that.
The cheapest out of the five, costing only £2.
5. Fifth favourite: Revlon’s Super Lustrious Lipstick in 477 – Black Cherry.
This lipstick is super vampy and will definitely keep you on trend. This product is non drying as the formula includes Vitamin E. This lipstick is very glossy and makes your lips look instantly plumped. As this is not a matte lipstick it’s not as long lasting as the others so you will need to re-apply throughout the day.
Black Cherry can be purchased at Boots for £7.99.
