Skrillex Calls Deadmau5 A Bully: A Look At Music Twitter Feuds

We look at three recent memorable twitter feuds between outspoken musicians that just couldn’t keep their opinions to themselves.

Skrillex Vs Deadmau5

This week it seemed Skrillex wanted to voice his opinions on fellow musician Deadmau5 taking to Twitter to accuse him of bullying and being “The worst label head ever.”

This is just yet another in a string of confrontations that always seem to blow up on Twitter and there’s no doubt that there will be many more to come. Skrillex took to Twitter to give his opinions on his label boss Deadmau5 accusing him of having atrocious leadership skills. Deadmau5 was an early supporter of Skrillex, helping him achieve fame in the early stages of his career. The two used to be friends but now it seems that the friendship is broken beyond repair. Deadmau5 hit back by referring to both of them as “2 EDM sellouts bitching about who’s got a good label and/or who’s sad.”

Deadmau5 later added that Skrillex was “Bored. Sad. Hateful. And lonely.”

Verdict: Hard to say who really won this but we would probably have to give it to Deadmau5 as he hit back with some real venom.

Jack White Vs The Black Keys

There has been a lot of bad blood between Jack White and the rock two piece from Ohio. It has been building up over the years with Jack White striking the first blows, when emails between White and his former wife model Karen Elson were revealed in court, when she was requesting a restraining order against him.

White wrote of his anger at how his children were attending the same school as Black Keys front man Dan Auerbach’s children: “That’s a possible twelve f**king years I’m going to have to be sitting in kids chairs next to that asshole with other people trying to lump us in together.” White also accused the band of copying his sound, “He gets yet another free reign to follow me around and copy me and push himself into my world.”

The tension between the two erupted in September this year when Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney accused White of trying to fight him in a Lower East Side bar, The Cabin Down Below in New York. Carney has since deleted the outburst but he tweeted a large amount of anger towards White and a few choice one’s included, “Jack White is basically Bill Corgan’s dumb ass zero t-shirt in human form.” Carney also referred to White as “the bully assholes who made me feel like nothing.”

Verdict: Jack White clearly does have some issues with the Black Keys and even though they have both tweeted they do have respect for each other, privately it would seem that really isn’t the case. Well definitely from Jack White if you go on what was revealed from his private emails and interviews.

Liam Gallagher Vs Noel Gallagher

The two brothers have always been known for some outspoken and quite frankly mean comments about a long list of people that seems to always be growing. During Oasis’s infamous britpop feud with Blur, Noel infamously said, ““I hate that Alex [James] and Damon [Albarn]. I hope they catch AIDS and die.” But what happens when the two turned on each other?

When Oasis finally split up in August 2009 in Paris after a violent altercation where Liam reportedly destroyed his older brothers guitar, Noel stormed off to later post a message to the bands official website to reveal, “I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

As is typical of the two loud mouthed Mancunians, they have been laying into each other whenever they are given the opportunity. Another choice quote Noel made about his brother Liam back in 2009 would be, “He’s rude, arrogant, intimidating and lazy. He’s the angriest man you’ll ever meet. He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.”

Noel was up to his old tricks again when he aimed his hate parade against One Direction. In an interview with Shortlist he said, “We both got f*cking roaring drunk and told One Direction to f*ck off in unison, which was funny.” Liam decided to respond to this by telling his brother to leave One Direction alone. Liam then tweeted a few more digs at his brother, making a joke about Noel using a saxophone on his new album.

Verdict: It seems that Liam and Noel are always going to be feuding and it doesn’t look like these famous brothers will be reuniting anytime soon, despite being family. But it does allow for some comical quotes from both of them as they score points against each other through the media.

So there you have it, Twitter has become the new battleground for the famous, proving that it doesn’t matter how rich or successful they are, they can still rise to an insult like everyone else does. It seems their human after all.
