Rebel Wilson is ‘deeply sorry’ for plus-sized claims

In her recent appearance on The Ellen Show, Rebel Wilson announced that she is the first plus size woman to star in a romantic comedy and has since apologized for it.

When on the programme, the Australian actress talked about here role in the upcoming film Isn’t It Romantic.

Wilson said: “I’m kind of proud to be the first ever plus-sized girl to be the star of a romantic comedy.”

During the show she was welcomed with warm applause, but Twitter users were quick to point out that there are many other plus-sizes actresses who have starred in rom-coms.

The 2006 film The Last Holiday starred Queen Latifah and Phat Girlz, also from 2006, starred Mo’Nique.

As the comments haven’t slowed down, Rebel felt that she is not ready for the pressure and started blocking people who were criticizing here. She blocked so many that the hashtag #RebelWilsonBlockedMe began to grow.

“I blocked people on Twitter because I was hurting from the criticism, but those are the people I actually need to hear from more, not less,” she concluded. “Again, I am deeply sorry.”

Some people who claimed that they were blocked have now said they no longer are.

Rebel Wilson tried to elevate herself for her hard work. Therefore, she completely forgot that there are many other women in the industry who also contributed in the rom-coms.
