J K Rowling’s Wizarding World has announced that the third Fantastic Beasts film is in pre-production.

This film will see the return of the entire main cast, with Eddie Redmayne once again taking the lead as magizoologist, Newt Scamander, Alison Sudol and Katherine Waterston reprising their roles as the Goldstein sisters, Queenie and Tina, and Dan Fogler appearing as Jacob Kowalski.

Director of the previous two films, David Yates, will also be back, as well as the addition of Steve Kloves co-writing the screenplay with J.K. Rowling.

The group will be stopping off in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, this time around, following their adventures through New York and Paris.

Filming is set to start in spring 2020.

The fan reaction has been mixed, especially considering the response from the previous two films in the franchise:

Though they have still done relatively well, the Fantastic Beasts films haven’t quite managed to reach the same level of success as the original Harry Potter series.

The second instalment of the franchise, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, grossed around $653.8m in the worldwide box office compared to the second Harry Potter film bringing in around $879.5m.

The film is set for release in 2021.
