Bye Bye Bake Off

Nine weeks down, one to go. How will The British Bake Off come to its conclusion?

Reporter: Alex Clement |  Sub-Editor: Andrew Whiteford

So Selasi has left the tent. And now what? We mourn for this great man. For the last nine weeks in #GBBO, we’ve seen him at his finest. He seemed so calm in his natural habitat, rolling around on the floor of the Bake Off tent and just minding his own business. Just baking, as you do.

He was a natural comedian, and if he fails to make it in the baking world, then watch out Michael McIntyre, he could be taking your spot next year. He charmed us through the TV screens and dazed us with his good looks, but now he has broken our hearts with his sudden departure. We thought good old Selasi Gbormittah might make it. He could put an edge over Andrew and become the last man standing. Sadly, it was not meant to be and he was sent packing in Wednesdays semi-finals. Farewell Selasi, we salute you.

We’re now down to our final three: Andrew Smyth, Candice Brown and Jane Beedle. It’s a tough call to make, with their own culinary skills to add to their freshly baked CV.

So there’s Candice, winner of the infamous ‘star baker’ three times and goes beyond her comfort zone in each showstopper challenge. She’s young and knows a thing or two about colour-coordinating her infamous lipstick to her bakes.

Andrew is the only man left standing. After winning the title of ‘star baker’ twice, he uses his brains (he’s an engineer designer) to perfect each challenge to get ahead of the game.

Then lastly there’s Jane. Sweet Jane. Out of the three, she’s had the most experience and therefore has the most chance, right? She’s only won ‘star baker’ once and that was during the first week of the competition.

So that’s it. One more episode and only three more bakes left. Who will win? Whatever happens next Wednesday, each of them (and their families) should be so proud of making it to the final. In turn, each of the final three have become so close due to this show. It seems like they have bonded, not just over Paul Hollywood’s dashing smile, but they seem to get on like a house on fire. They’re like a very dysfunctional family, and it’s sweet.
