One-third off rail fares for £30 a year is the 16-25 Railcard’s main attraction. But you can benefit in more ways than this, find out how to make the most of this handy little card.

1. Good food savings
With the 16-25 Railcard you can claim two months free access to the Gourmet Society Restaurant app. This gives you discounts of up to 50% at over 6,000 restaurants, bars and pubs. This app is great for Londoners, with savings available at: Café Rouge, Strada, Tiger Tiger and many places alike.
You can also get a free two month tastecard membership to get 2 for 1 or 50% off at 1,000’s of restaurants. If you’re smart about the memberships you’ll get them at different times meaning four months of discount for the year!
2. Connect to your Oyster card for discounted travel around London
The TFL website states: “If you buy a 16-25 Railcard, you can set the discount on a standard adult Oyster card, 18+ Student Oyster photocard to get a 1/3 discount on off-peak rail travel”. This is a great saving that not enough people know about, spread the word!
3. Savings on travel outside of the UK
You can use your 16-25 Railcard for benefits beyond the UK rail network. Real Gap are giving an 8% discount with the promo code ‘RAIL8CARDRG’. Real Gap specialise in everything from travel adventures, to volunteering, to paid work abroad.
4. London deals
Even those of us that live in London need an excuse to do something in the capital every now and again. And everything’s better with a discount! 16-25 Railcard holders can get up to 60% off select theatre tickets.
You can also save 20% on Virgin Experience Days, many of which take place in London. You can treat yourself to a three course meal at the Shard, an afternoon tea, or a hilarious comedy night. You can also use your discount to buy impressive gifts for your friends and family.
