Putting it bluntly, humans love to complicate things; but is there any need? Keeping it simple makes life easier, especially when it comes down to things that really matter. So from making the right food and exercise choices, to maintaining a healthy mind-set, here is a reminder of some valuable daily steps that can easily be forgotten.

You may have heard it endless times before, but drink more of the natural stuff. What is the best drink in the world? Water. Not only is it refreshing, but it is the liquid that your brain and body needs and relies on, to work the way it should. Healthily. It is also great for your skin, flushing out any toxins and unwanted waste that could be clogging you up.

It’s easy to say yes to a lift to the local shop or to hop on the train to the next stop, but is this just laziness? Even if you have to force yourself to say no to using public transport, it will affect your fitness levels for the better by walking or cycling around the city. One day at a time is all it takes. Stay conscious of your daily routines and decision-making. Make the right steps toward improving your health and fitness; it’s these decisions that make all the difference.

Our mindset controls everything, so being selective with associates is particularly important here. Who we decide to spend our time with can jeapordise our health, especially if people drag you down without you realising. But, if you spend time with fitness fanatics, guess what’ll happen? You’ll become one too. It’s a win win situation.

Going to your favourite restaurant may be tempting, but you have to think, are you over-indulging too often? When you eat something that is a favourite of yours, try considering it as an occasion and don’t take food for granted (which can be kind of hard when living in the capital). Bless your food before you eat, the nutrition will provide your body with all it needs and requires to make you fit and healthy, or not (if you’re eating unhealthily). So choose wisely and be mindful of what you’re eating. You are the most important person, after all.

5. Put yourself in environments that make you happy.

When you’re with people or in a place that makes you sad or angry, you are less likely to choose healthier options. It’ll lead to a downward spiral, and before you know it you will be doing nothing more than sitting on the sofa feeling sorry for yourself. You’d be surprised just how much listening to your favourite music can affect your health and mindset, according to experts. Whether it is reading a book or being creative in an empty room with your pencils and a pad, doing what makes you happy makes your body happy…producing positive results all-round.
